I have been a bit slow in doing this post but finally here it is . About a month ago MP and I went to Bristol in the South West of England for a couple of days. We got the early train and arrived at Bristol Temple Meads station about 11.45am. Had a hearty full english breakfast at Wetherspoons Knights Templer…..
(photo from Wetherspoons website)
then wandered off for a pub crawl with MP’s friend.
We enjoyed some wonderful weather
One of the breweries we visited was Moor Beer Company. Two of the beers they have are called Nor Hop and So Hop. Nor Hop is named so because it is an ultra pale ale made from hops sourced from the northern hemisphere and So Hop is named so because it is an ultra pale ale made from hops sourced from the southern hemisphere. I tasted both and to me the best one was So Hop… hmmm I wonder why?? hehehe…. you can take the girl out of Australia but you can’t take Australia out of the girl.
We made a new friend….typical Lab…gentle and friendly and constantly asking for a pat. He had the softest coat and reminded me of our Shadow.
Another pub we visited was 7 Stars Inn. A 17th century pub, it is found down a tiny lane that you almost walk past.
This pub has a long history of survival and it’s link to the path for the abolition of slavery.
Click on the link above and on the left had side scroll down to the ‘History’ tab for an amazing story about this pub and Thomas Clarkson (1760-1846)
You can then come back and click on the link for Thomas Clarkson for more information about the man himself.
so after an enlightening history lesson
MP and I enjoyed a cider…
then off to the the next pub…..
I can’t remember what it was called but the ladies had really nice tiles
We walked a lot, drank a lot, learned a lot …
It was then time for a curry while enjoying a view of Bristol as the evening set in.
